Adventist Positives

In this Christmas season we are encourage to be positive, to give thanks, to bless others, and be reminded of all the goods things that happened to us during the year.

I dedicate this post to the good things about Adventism. Much has been written about the negative aspects of our faith but there are many good things too. What have you found to be a great blessing in the teachings of Adventism? I could list quite a few but one that I am most thankful for is our emphasis on health and our heritage of health. I use the eight natural remedies, acronym--A STEWARD-- as guiding principles for my life. Good health is much more than not smoking, drinking alcohol, using drugs, it is all about balance in life. Now it is your turn.

It is much easier to describe those things that bother us, to deal with the negatives, humans by nature seem to respond to what is bothering or annoying them. It does bother me a lot that so many are willing to pick small issues to become discouraged about in the church, when if they would just look at the big picture, they would see God is still in charge. We have difficulty, especially when we are OK, to let the good things go unnoticed. That is one of the nice things about our God. He still loves us even when we do not appriciate or notice His loving care. I am very thankful in knowing that I will never be abandoned by Him but will always be under His loving care.

I have passed through several rough periods in my life and have always been delivered through the trials, some of my own making, by having God bare the burdon with me. My Adventist heritage has given me great comfort and support. My friends at New Hope even without knowing it would often give me words of encouragement without realizing that they were helping me, many times they did not know I was hurting. Many the time when faced with life issues I would go to the church when no one else was there just to talk with the God I learned about at New Hope. I would place my cares on Him and He would remind me that He was there and I just need to let Him take charge. Not all problems it seems, were mind alone to solve, God was waiting there to help me. So, the thing that I am greatful for is that God chose me as His, has helped me recognize the working of His providence in leading my life and His patience in working with me - with my faults. He has given me a great church community support system, a belief system, and a pattern of life that will carry me to the New Earth.

Thank you David. A healthy local church is a great support system. We are all part of God's family.

Aye, aye to both you and David Wheeler.

Be critical of what's wrong with Adventism somehow seems cool, hip, interesting, and respectable. It's a disease.

Today I celebrate the worldwide family of Adventism. Even when it seems that the rest of the world body seems to "drag me down," I turn around and recognize that they're my parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, sisters, brothers regardless of where they live or what their passioante about.

Adventism is incredibly diverse and comes from all nationalities, races, economic groups, etc.
